Abstract : The handoff algorithms based on absolute threshold value and hysteresis level have been previously developed for conventional cellular networks. In this paper, we extend this handoff algorithm by adjusting the handoff condition for multihop cellular networks. The absolute threshold value is used to initiate a handoff procedure in handoff algorithm. In this way, the mobile station could decide whether to use relay station or not by adjusting the absolute threshold value. The simulation and analytical results provide that the effect of the absolute threshold value in multihop cellular networks.
