Abstract : In the cellular network, in-band full duplex (FD) has regarded as a promising technique for improving spectral efficiency. However, implementing FD transmission in the cellular network results in severe inter-user interference (IUI). In order to mitigate IUI, in this paper, we propose distributed user association algorithm for FD cellular system where user equipments (UEs) are sequentially arriving. We first observe the impact of neighbor UEs on the user association. Based on the observation, we propose the user association algorithm for the newly arriving UE which can avoid strong IUI from neighbor UEs. The proposed algorithm only requires the UE to estimate the IUI and the strength of the received signal from the BSs, and it does not require cooperation between BSs. Thus, it can achieve practical signaling overhead. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that proposed algorithm can improve the UE throughput compared to the conventional association based on the maximum power of the received downlink signal.
