Abstract : | Magnetic recording channels are regarded as partial-response channels, due to its inherent differential characteristics of readback pulses on recoding media. As recording density is increased. the class IV of partial-response is used for the channel modelling of magnetic recording systems, especially in density 2 and 2.5. On PR-IV magnetic recording systems, the maximum-likelihood sequence detection (MLSD) method is better than the others in performance, but has complex structure and needds high cost. A new detection scheme is proposed in this paper, which is simpler than MLSD and without any fall in performacne. The proposed detection method has error correcting capability in ambiquous zone of the analog output of the equalizer. |
